Monday, March 24

This morning we braved the traffic and drove into Atlanta’s Buckhead area to visit with Cousin Laura.  She has an apartment in a retirement complex on Peachtree Rd, NE near Phipps Plaza and Lenox Road.  She gave us a tour of the complex and then we went to her apartment to catch up and talk about family.  Laura is retired from the Coca-Cola company where she worked for 42 years.  Would you believe that she only serves Coca-Cola beverages to her guests!  She also has a fantastic music box collection which she showed to us.   When lunch time rolled around we went to Laura’s favorite restaurant, an Italian restaurant named Pia Bella. I had a lasagna pizza and it was very good.  After lunch we took Laura back to her apartment and then hit the road to get ahead of the rush hour traffic leaving Atlanta.  We were in luck and the drive back to Dahlonega was faster and much less nerve-wracking than the morning drive into Atlanta.  Tomorrow we will visit Cousin Cherie in Blairsville and after lunch Doug and I will go our separate ways.  Doug in a rental car back to Pennsylvania and me back to Texas.  We will each have about an 800 mile drive and hope to be back at our respective homes sometimes on Thursday.
